Obama Wins Nobel For Not Being Another Bush

Today, one of the most random news arrived around the world that President Barack Obama had won the Nobel Peace Prize. Obama had nomination submitions two weeks after he became president, it was not an entire suprise that he might win (Though he acts as if it was). According to many in the international community and the Nobel Committee in Norway, it was for the inspiration he has brought to people and not for his accomplishments. According to France's President Sarkozy, the award "confirms finally America's return to the hearts of the people of the world." Not everyone is content around the world, especially conservatives. Rush Limbaugh said, "Something has happened here that we all agree with the Taliban and Iran about and that is he doesn't deserve the award." Amongst the people nominated was the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

For those not familiar with the Nobel, here's some interesting information. Alfred Nobel was the inventor of dynamite, and when he found that his invention was used as a killing machine, he wanted to leave a grand legacy behind and created the Nobel Peace Prize.

I love the man, but I do not feel he is really suited for the Nobel - at least yet. I'm glad he admitted that he felt he was not the right person to become a Nobel Laureate. The thing is, its just too soon. He has tried to change things, but not much has happened - yet. I can comprehend if he sat down with a controversial president such as the President of Iran, it would make more sense for him to win it. I can see why people are upset, I was a bit disappointed as well. Not to mention silly comments from people like Rush Limbaugh, which is a little too much. Regardless, I think we should be happy in the end. He is representing our country and that should make us proud.

Does Obama deserve to be a Nobel Laureate?
